Genuine Faith
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
--Hebrews 11:1
What does genuine faith look like?
So many people in our society today put their faith in self-help gurus, books, programs… the list goes on and on! And some people think that just believing in the power of positive thinking can somehow accomplish things in their lives.
But none of these things are examples of genuine faith!
Christian, it’s vitally important you’re not deceived into putting your faith anywhere else but in the one true God. Because He is the only One who is worthy of putting your true faith and hope in in this life!
Despite what our world says, genuine faith is not based on your feelings… your emotions… your life circumstances… or even in what you can see, as today’s verse reminds us.
Maybe today you’re struggling to put your faith in God. Maybe you have some intellectual questions that are keeping you from trusting in Him completely. If so, remember that it’s natural to have questions. It’s natural to want to understand as much as you can about God and the Christian faith.
But listen to me here: When you come to God with a genuine faith, your intellectual curiosities will be met and satisfied.
Please don’t think I am saying you must have the faith of a giant and never struggle through the difficulties of life. In Matthew 17:20, Jesus said that faith the size of a grain of mustard seed is a great faith.
No matter where you are in your walk with Christ today, it’s my prayer that you would develop a genuine and courageous faith in Jesus Christ… the only One who is worthy of your complete trust and hope!
genuine faith is not based on your feelings, your emotions, your life circumstances, or even in what you can see.

LOST
LOST - I keep seeing the advertisement for this TV show, but have never watched it. But the other day I lived it on a smaller scale. I was not lost on a deserted island or anything. There are many ways to be lost. I was personally lost in the woods. I had scoped out a good place to deer hunt this year, with a little help from my friend Sam, (the great white hunter) and was excited to once again go deer hunting. Something I haven't done in a few years. So I got the spot all picked out, well back into the woods, cleared some dead branches for sight lines and was all set. When opening day arived I jumped out of bed at 4:00 am excited to be a hunter. When I arrived at the location, I was conficent I would bag a deer that day. However getting through the thick bruch to get to my spot was much more difficult in the dark than it had been in the light. I had taken note of some land marks along the way when I entered and exited a few days before. But that was in the daylight, now it was dark and the light of my trusty flashlight just didn't cut it. I wandered through the woods, trying to walk straight to the place I needed to go. I was crashing through the woods, in the dark, in the cold, (though after 10 minutes I was sweating like a pig) making enough noise to scare away the deer in 3 counties. I was not lost in the sense that I was afraid that I would never see my wife and children again. I was just lost in the sense that I could not find the place that I had prepared as a great location to hunt from. I finally gave up trying to find my perfect spot and sat down under a tree to wait for sunrise and enough light to see a deer. When it became light enough I realized my newly chosen spot had a vantage point of only about ten yards of clear sight. If I was to get a deer he would have to come very close to where I was. I will try again! You gotta laugh!
Colossians 1:12-13 says, "...giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."
Thank God we don't have to stay lost. Jesus is the light to help us find our way. He is the way, the truth and the life. He has gone to prepare a place for us in heaven, but without Jesus we will be lost for eternity and we will never find our way to this wonderful place prepared just for us.
God Bless you, See you in church on Sunday or Wednesday. posted: 11/06/07 |

Walking... Riding... and Hope
Sore muscles are a by-product of excercise. I have always loved to ride my bike. It is a great source of excercise and I get to be outside in God's creation. My friend Michael heard that I love to ride my bike and invited me to ride with him. Michael is a serious rider. He pushed me more than he will ever know, but pride did not permit me to admit that to him at first. My idea of a long ride was 5 miles. I really thought I had accomplished something. So when we started at 15 and quickly got up to 25 miles, I knew I was headed down sore muscle lane. I have just finished riding a 50 mile trek that went from St. Joseph to Melrose MN. as a fundraiser for Master's Commission, a discipleship training ministry for people who want to be used by God in ministry, but are ot quite ready for college. The ride was harder than I thought it would be since there was a 25 mile an hour crosswind.
WALKING:
This is part of the Pregnancy Resource, walk for life, Oct. 6.
Physically this will be no problem for me, thank God. We do not walk a long distance, so I should be just fine. I am very committed to be a part of this walk and raise as much money as I possibly can. The work that PR does is incredible. They literally stand between life and death for unborn babies. With the recent addition of an ultrasound machine, mothers can actually see the precious life that is inside of them. It is making a huge impact on those who are unsure about their future.
HOPE:
My hope is that you will feel as passionate about young men and women, and unborn babies as I do and will help me to raise as much money as possible. If we work together great things can be accomplished. Please contact me if you are willing to pledge for either of these.
Thank You!
